When you’ve been doing architectural visualization for as long as Joel Gray, you pick up a few things along the way. For Joel and his firm, G3D (www.g3d.net) in Colorado Springs, that means optimizing your process and tools to meet the needs of your customers. Over the years, Joel has seen demand for animations actually diminish, while his customer’s appetite for high-resolution stills has only increased. “With stills, the client can really study what’s going on with the design. Often, animation just moves too fast for the client to see the details. Where the geometry is really unique, sometimes an animation can work well, but generally, I’ve found that stills are better in most applications,” says Joel.
